Description
In the 1940s, Van Everdingen and Hurst invented the analytical aquifer method to model aquifer support when producing hydrocarbon reservoirs. We will describe the powerful applications of this method, once adapted to CO2 geological storage. They include CO2 storage resources estimations, pressure propagation or brine displacements within aquifers.
Participant profile
Any geoscientist and reservoir engineer working on CO2 geological storage
About Instructor
Sylvain Thibeau is Expert CO2 Geological Storage of TotalEnergies. He is the coauthor of two books and 50 publications on this topic. His main topic of interest is the estimation of CO2 storage resources at local and basin scales. His work is the basis for the EU Directive CCS Guidelines on estimating CO2 storage resources in the EU Member States.
