Full-waveform inversion relies on accurate starting models to avoid local minima. We remove this reliance by solving an augmented wave equation, designed to fit the data as well as the physics, in combination with imposing constraints. As a result we end up with an inversion scheme that produces good results in situations where conventional full-waveform inversion is known to fail. Did you like this E-Lecture?
