EAGE Student E-Lecture: Petrographic coded correlations in petrophysics by Nina Gegenhuber Petrophysics refers to the research on the physical properties of rocks, their experimental and theoretical derivation and their correlations. In this e-lecture the petrographic coded model concept will be explained and some examples of the first applications are shown. The first application of the model was to derive a correlation between thermal conductivity and compressional wave velocity. The model concept can help to understand various influencing factors for the different petrophysical properties and become a powerful tool for data interpretation.
